About Wu Zhi Qiao

Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation is a charity registered in Hong Kong (no: 91/8739) in 2007. Through encouraging volunteers, especially university student volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland China, to design and build footbridges and village facilities in remote and rural villages in the Mainland with green concepts, we aspire to:

  1. Foster better communication, mutual understanding and integration between Hong Kong and the Mainland
  2. Improve lives of underprivileged villages in remote areas of Mainland China
  3. Inspire respect, appreciation and preservation of local culture and environment, and promulgate the concept of sustainability.
  4. Provide university students a real life experience of executing a service project which has direct impact.

The Foundation has two Visions: One is to encourage students and social volunteers to improve the lives of underprivileged villagers in rural areas of China by initiating and implementing sustainable development projects. The other is to provide an opportunity for volunteers and villagers to develop their mutual understanding and improve communication, so to foster friendship and build spiritual bridges. The Mission of the Foundation is to foster better mutual understanding between the young people in Hong Kong and the Mainland for sustainable development in underprivileged areas of China and beyond.

The signature programme of Wu Zhi Qiao was to construct footbridge to solve accessibility and mobility of villagers in remote areas, while the rammed earth building programme was established in 2010 to demonstrate eco-dwelling technique. To response to the development needs of youth and the National Revitalization Strategy for rural villages in China, village enrichment programme and student experiential learning programme were also developed in the recent years. With the support of the stakeholders, mentors, universities, students and social volunteers, Wu Zhi Qiao has completed 53 footbridge construction projects, 3 village demonstration projects, 3 village centres across 8 provinces of China with the partnership of over 20 institutions and participation of more than 5,500 volunteers from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas. Job Description

Purpose of the role and responsibilities

Wu Zhi Qiao is celebrating our 15th Anniversary in 2022. Wu Zhi Qiao is seeking talented indivduals for the role of Event and Fundraising Officer. The opening of this role comes at a time where Wu Zhi Qiao is embarking the 15th Anniversary year with focuses of publicity of organization achievements, engagement of stakeholders and fundraising events. Together with the upcoming strategic plan of 2022-2024, this is an exciting opportunity to work in a mission driven NGO, a close-knit team and a position where you can make a direct impact to build the brand and sustainability of Wu Zhi Qiao.

Reporting to the CEO, the Event and Fundraising Officer plays a key role to develop and implement publicity and fundraising events first to promote the Foundation in terms of the vision and mission message, the programme and its achievement and impacts to the public and stakeholders in an innovative, effective and efficient manner. Second, the enhancement of the brand presence to the public would foster the donation income and engagement of the stakeholders to Wu Zhi Qiao to support the youth and village development work in the second decade of the Foundation.

Event Management Support

  •      To identify and develop annual publicity and fundraising event plans, and to discuss the plan and concept papers with the working team and board directors.
  •      To organize publicity and fundraising events in the 15th Anniversary campaign, Annual volunteer recognition ceremony, Exhibitions, Roadshow in campuses, Fundraising campaigns and etc. 
  •      To support the promotion of the organization and the projects in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
  •      To assist supervisor in any other duties as assigned.

Fundraising and Donor Relations Support

  •      To develop and implement strategic and tactical fundraising, donation, and marketing activities to meet the yearly fundraising and donation targets. 
  •      To compile the analytical reports for management’s review and formulate future strategic directions on fundraising and donation.
  •      To manage and improve CRM system to deepen ties with the Friends of Wu Zhi Qiao, stakeholders and donors.
  •      To identify new donors, and conduct donor engagement activities to strengthen relationship with donors and stakeholders.
  •      With support of supervisor, proactively search for funding application opportunities, and prepare and submit funding proposals in a timely manner.

Qualifications and skills

  •      Minimum 5 years of working experience with established profolio of individual donors or corporate donors in NGO fundraising, social media marketing and event management.
  •      Solid work experience in fundraising and nonprofits is preferable.
  •      Strong event and project management skills, with hands on knowledge in publicity, event management, and fundraising. Good relations with the media is a plus.
  •      Have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin and Cantonese).
  •      Proficient in computer application including MS Office, Chinese word processing and Design software such as Photoshop,  InDesign, Illustrator or short video production and editing.


  •      Share the mission and vision of Wu Zhi Qiao.
  •      A team player yet able to work independently and under pressure and dynamic environment. 
  •      Enjoy interacting with people and possess good communications and interpersonal skills.
  •      Strategic mind on business development.
  •      Self-motivated and drive to achieve goals.
  •      Passionate on youth and village development.
  •      Willing to travel to remote area of developing countries occasionally.
  •      Immediate availability preferred.

Salary & Benefits

Monthly salary range depending on the level of experience and competencies. Several benefits including some options for flexible working, 5-day work week, medical allowance and opportunities for training and development.
