Welcoming Remarks from Mr Adrian Cheng, the Chairman of Fundraising Committee
Welcome to the Charity Gala Dinner 2008 of Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation (“WZQCF”). On behalf of the Fundraising Committee, I would like to express our warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all guests tonight.
Hong Kong is a busy city with well developed transport connected by flyovers and bridges. To us, bridges are neither unfamiliar nor far from us. Sometimes, we even find it inconvenient of crossing a road with footbridge and we have never been thankful to a single bridge.
Since I know the project of Wu Zhi Qiao, I have started to take note of and appreciate every bridge I see because all these bridges have reminded me of the smiles of children and villagers on the bridges we built. The project of Wu Zhi Qiao has improved livelihood of the poor from remote rural areas and enhanced the connection of the youth from Hong Kong and Mainland China. What is more, it has made us treasure what we have.
Since its establishment on 12 April 2007, Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation has gained support from all walks of life. I sincerely hope that your support will continue after this Charity Gala Dinner so that the project of Wu Zhi Qiao can go on endlessly, benefiting more people in need.
Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to all the guests, sponsors, donors, members of Council of Management and Fundraising Committee of the Foundation for all your generous support and effort contributing to the success of Charity Gala Dinner 2008 of Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation. Thank you.
