The Yuen Yuen Institute Wu Zhi Qiao

Site Location – Mixia Village, Pinghe Township, Luchun County, Honghe State

Site Background – Due to complicated geography in Mixia Village, 3 natural villages (Longpu, Luesha, Lueka) scattered there. About 40 min walk from the other side of ARUP Wu Zhi Qiao, there is a main access leading to the farmland. As the river is separated by an island, the team wishes to build two bridges for the villagers to improve their commutation.

The Need – The bridge sites are the key access to Mixia Village. The villagers and the students cross the river by a simple bamboo for farm and school.

Milestone

Close to 26 professional and student volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland universities built 2 bridges in Mixia Village during the period from 22 May to 29 May. The volunteers also renovated the table and chairs in the school to improve children’s learning environment.

Project team conducted the 2nd investigation trip in Nov to confirm the bridge design and prepare for the construction trip in May next year.
