WZQ bridge building programme in Pingbang Village, Guizhou now open for recruitment! (14 Dec 2012)
In a remote Pingbang Village in Qiannan State, Guizhou, the locals and students have to wade across the river. Thus, Wu Zhi Qiao teams from Sichuan University Hong Kong Polytehnic University are planning to build a safe footbridge for them from 17 to 24 Jan next year. ‘Bridging Hearts, Touching Souls’ Exhibition (3 Sep 2012)
The Foundation is now organizing “Bridging Hearts, Touching Souls” Exhibition to be held in Times Square from 4 Sep 2012 to 16 Sep 2012. It will showcase our key achievements over the past five years and engage the visitors to capture, experience Wu Zhi Qiao and support our bridge cause in actions. There will be panel and model display, video show, QR code photography areas and guided interpretation designed and organized by our university student volunteer teams.

WZQ Village Improvement Project Trip was completed in Gansu (16 Aug 2012)
During the period from 25 July to 5 August, two teams with close to hundred university and secondary students visited Datan Village to experience the culture and lives in the rural village, and conducted a series of liverlihood improvement programmes, including paving work, furniture fixing, eco-toilet construction and educational activities to local students. This “Wu Zhi Qiao Service Learning Programme” was successfully launched under “Project WeCan”, a school programme sponsored by Wharf China Limited.
Victoria He Yuan Village Wu Zhi Qiao was built in Yunnan (19 Jun 2012)
45 professional and student volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland universities built a more than 50 meters long footbridge with the local villagers successfully in Heyuan Village during the period from 2 Jun to 9 Jun. This project is sponsored by Victoria Educational Organization, and the bridge is named as “Victoria He Yuan Village Wu Zhi Qiao”. Please click here for more project details.

WZQ has built two footbridges and a village centre in Datan Village, Zhangjiachuan County, Tianshui City, Gansu. To further enhance local community development, and continue the “spiritual bridge” built among volunteers and villagers, WZQ teams of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University will organise service trip on July 24 to July 30 (Team A) and July 30 to August 5 (Team B), in collaboration with secondary school students under Project WeCan of Wharf. Service includes interior fixing of the village centre and organizing extra-curricular activities for local students. Would you like to join them?

“Bridging Hearts, Touching Souls” Photography Contest is now open for application! (17 May 2012)
The “Bridging Hearts, Touching Souls” Photography Contest aims to encourage the general public to express the Wu Zhi Qiao concept of building “Spiritual Bridge” using photography, and we urge you all to come forth to participate! The competition is divided into two categories (Open Category and Full-time Student Category), in which Champion, First runner-up and Second runner-up winners will be selected for each category, there will be the Most Popular Photograph Online as well. Winning photos might have a chance to be displayed on the Wu Zhi Qiao website, on social media or at the Wu Zhi Qiao public exhibition to be held in September at Times Square, Causeway Bay.

A New Wu Zhi Qiao was built in Xingren Village, Yunnan (9 May 2012)
A new Wu Zhi Qiao bridge was successfully built in May. It is 8 meters long and made by abandoned truck frame. This project is sponsored by ACR Capital Holdings Pte Ltd.

Thus, Wu Zhi Qiao teams from Xian University of Architecture and Technology and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology are planning to build a safe footbridge for them from 2 to 9 June. Service Programme for Datan Village Community Centre (24 Apr 2012)
After building two Wu Zhi Qiao bridges in Datan Village, the Foundation has built a village community centre there to impart modern building technology to the villagers and improve their medical and leisure facilities. During the period from 4 April to 9 April, 35 teacher and student volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland finished the painting work for the centre and paving work for the clinic and library. They also delivered language classes and team building activities to the local students. It is the first time for the Foundation to establish collaborative relationship with student group from Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and community service group of Victoria Shanghai Academy to recruit student volunteers for this service programme. Wu Zhi Qiao Student Interflow Camp 2012 (9 Feb 2012)
The Wu Zhi Qiao Student Interflow Camp was successfully held in Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village, Hong Kong from 3 Feb to 8 Feb. Close to 80 Wu Zhi Qiao student team members from 15 universities in Hong Kong, Mainland and Taiwan participated in it. During the camp, the lectures on bridge design, site survey, project management, team building and communication skill were given by the professionals to the students. ARUP Wu Zhi Qiao was built in Yunnan (6 Jan 2012)
50 professional and student volunteers from Ove Arup & Partners HK Ltd (ARUP), The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Kunming University of Science and Technology built a 20 meters long footbridge successfully in Mixia Village of Yunnan during the period from 26 Dec 2011 to 5 Jan 12. The bridge is named as “ARUP Wu Zhi Qiao”.
This is the first bridge project led by ARUP, our supporting organisation. Compared with its megaprojects, it is the first time for ARUP volunteer team to build a small-scale footbridge by their bare hands without skilled workers and machinery. Moreover, the project has to meet the spirit of Wu Zhi Qiao, local environment and economical benefits. It is a rather challenging project for them. Besides, the students got an opportunity to learn more practical skills from the professional engineers and the project as well.
