Wu Zhi Qiao at Datan Village

Site Location – Datan Village, Zhangjia County, Tianshui City

Site Background – In July 2008, over 60 volunteers and students from Xian Jiao tong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Polytechnic University built a Wu Zhi Qiao Bridge in Datan Village to improve commutation safety of local villagers. However, there exists another small river separating local villagers.

The Need – Currently, some concrete bars are the key crossing. However, during raining seasons, flood waters will block the entire access.

Villagers Benefited – 1108 nos (about 180 students)

Project Team – Teacher and student team from Xian Jiaotong University (XJU) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

Milestone

16 professional and student volunteers mainly from 6 universities in Hong Kong and Mainland built a more than 10 meters long footbridge with the local villagers successfully in Datan Village during the period from 21 Apr to 25 Apr.
Project team finalized the bridge design and planned to have the bridge building trip in Easter holidays.
Project team conducted a survey trip in Jan.
